On the occasion of her recently published anthology Sex, Race and Class, The Perspective of Winning – A Selection of Writings, 1952-2011, Selma James, co-ordinator of the Global Women’s Strike, will be speaking in a number of cities in England and Scotland this month.

The event was part of Selma’s US spring speaking tour to launch her anthology Sex Race and Class – The Perspective of Winning, and addresses some of the issues we commonly face as organisers.

The Spring 2012 tour to launch Selma James’s new anthology was a huge success: 30 talks, 30 days, 10 cities, wide-ranging discussions and extended media interviews including on Democracy Now.

From Troy Davis to Mumia Abu-Jamal and Bradley Manning, from the Pelican Bay Hunger Strikers to the Georgia Prison Strike and the Formerly Incarcerated Persons (FIPs), anti-capitalist leadership has come from inside the Prisonhouse of nations, and from the families campaigning outside. Many rebellious young people and movement points of reference are locked up in what are in effect concentration camps. We want them back! We need them back!
