An Evening of Resistance & Song

with Sò Anne

popular Haitian activist and folk singer

NEWS FLASH: Annette Auguste, known as Sò Anne, was arrested by US marines in May 2004 at home in Port au Prince along with her friends and family including two children.  She was held in prison for over two years by the UN occupation, and only released in  August 2006 after international pressure to free her led by the grassroots in Haiti.

"I send you all my blessings as a free Haitian woman fighting for the rights of the impoverished majority in my homeland. They may imprison my body but they will never imprison the truth I know in my soul. I will continue to fight for justice and truth in Haiti until I draw my last breath."
- Sò Anne, Petionville Penitentiary, Port-au-Prince, Haiti, May 23, 2004

Thurs. March 15, 7PM

GOLDEN STATE Mutual Bldg.
