Andaiye was a founding member of the Working People’s Alliance with Walter Rodney, the author of “How Europe Underdeveloped Africa”, who was assassinated in Guyana in 1980. She is co-founder and coordinator of Red Thread (RT) in Guyana, a self-help income-generating group bringing low-income women together across violent Afro/Indo racial divides. Andaiye represented CARICOM (joint Caribbean governments) at the UN World Conference on Women in Beijing, 1995.

Selma James is a movement strategist and lifelong campaigner for women’s rights and anti-racism. She was for many years the colleague and wife of influential Marxist organizer, historian and critic CLR James. She is the author of “The Power of Women & The Subversion of the Community”, “Sex, Race & Class” and other classics. She is the international coordinator of the Global Women's Strike and works closely with grassroots women and men in the Venezuelan Revolution. |
