Sex workers strike against poverty & criminalizationSince 1975, the International Prostitutes Collective has been campaigning for the abolition of the prostitution laws which criminalize us. We demand our rights as workers who contribute to the survival and welfare of families and communities. And we demand economic alternatives, higher benefits and wages. No one should be forced by poverty or violence into sex with anyone. The situation and struggle of those of us in the Global South and those of us who work on the street, often women of colour and/or immigrant women, who face even more violence and discrimination, is our starting point. We campaign against anti-trafficking laws which are used to deport not to protect. We oppose military budgets. Machismo begins with the military, not with lap dancing. |
