Invitation
to Endorse the
Dear Friend, We are inviting you to endorse the Global Women’s Strike LA event, a “Gathering Our Forces Against Poverty and War” March and Rally on Thursday, March 10, at 3PM. A flyer is attached. We look forward to hearing from you, and of course should you decide to endorse we will add your name in future publicity for this event. We will gather at 3PM at the downtown Federal Building at 300 N. Los Angeles St. (metro Union Station), then march to the Twin Towers jail and rally at 5PM at corner of Vignes & Bauchet Sts. There will be speakers, spoken word, music, & more. A truck will be provided for elders, children, & people with disabilities. Co-sponsors include: Action Resource Center, Alexandria House, A New Way of Life, ANSWER Coalition, East Side Café, El Sereno Neighbors for Peace and Justice, IAC, No New Jails Coalition, Office of the Americas, Payday, San Gabriel Valley Neighbors for Peace and Justice. CISPES, FACTS, LA Greens, LA/USLAW, Raging Grannies/So Cal, Sunset Hall have already endorsed. KPFK is the media sponsor of this event. The action, a permitted march and rally, is coordinated by the Global Women’s Strike/LA. As you probably know, the Global Women's Strike is a multiracial network of women taking actions since 2000 in over 60 countries on and around March 8 (International Women’s Day) and throughout the year to demand that governments “Invest in Caring Not Killing”, this is also our global theme. We are part of the international movement against war and occupation. GWS presses for the $1 trillion a year in military spending to go instead to the care of people and the planet.
