Early Day Motion 1483 supporting Brian Haw
24 hour anti-war protester on the pavement of Parliament Square for over three years

Dear Friends

Please would you urgently contact your MP to ask them to sign Early Day Motion number 1483 below, in support of Brian Haw’s right to protest in Parliament Square.  Mr Haw has maintained a vital 24 hour anti-war protest on the pavement of the Square for over three years which the Global Women’s Strike joins every Wednesday with our Community Picket and Open Mic.

As you may know on 9 May Mr Haw was violently removed and detained by police.  They took away his displays of anti-war banners and photographs of Iraqi children.  They eventually returned them in a damaged state.  He left them untouched as evidence of the crime which had been committed against him, awaiting an investigation which has still not taken place.

In a debate the Lords described the broken displays as "litter" and discussed increasing police powers to remove Mr Haw permanently. It is in all our interests to defend Mr haw’s right to protest in Parliament Square.

Parliament starts its summer break on 22 July, so please contact your MP this week to get them to sign before they go. Thank you.
Yours for Investing in Caring Not Killing!
