Dear Sisters and Friends,

Greetings from Kaabong Women’s Group members, we are calling a Global Women’ s Strike for 8th March 2003.

You are all aware that we are preparing for the 4th Global Strike in many countries. Every 8th March, strike action in over 60 countries take place. We, Kaabong Women’s Group, and individual people in Action For Peace are calling for promotion of non violence, conflict resolution, promotion of food security for women all over the world, access to clean water, valuing women’s caring work, good housing and maternity centers, etc.  The Drama Group of KWGO is playing free plays, exhibitions, concerts, songs and craftwork . These functions are for the preparations of Global Women’s Strike 8th-March 2003. We say "Invest In Caring Not Killing".

War, War, War, we have suffered all types of Wars, not even a decade elapses without Wars. Innocent hungry women and children killed, pregnant women and innocent babies.  $900 billion a year spent on military budgets instead of essential of life to everyone in the world.  In Uganda more weapons are being bought for modernization instead essentials.  We do work endlessly caring for families bearing children yet on empty stomachs, drought has caused a lot of suffering especially to breast feeding mothers, the aged, the disabled and infants, and instead money which would have made our life easier is put in the military budget.  Our survival is not an economic priority, so our survival work is not seen. Sisters Globally, let all of us stand on our feet and be in Action For Peace & Development.

While in the theme of the 8th-March-2003 International Women’s Day in Uganda is "Act Now, Say No To Violence Against Women" but under this theme Kaabong Women’s Group has so many demands which are: accessible clean water, food security, health centers, housing, literacy, transport, communication and power.

We shall give you all the details after the 8th- March -2003, WE SAY, INVEST IN CARING NOT KILLING, STOP THE WORLD AND CHANGE IT.  We are still proud to announce that one of our demands was met by the Ugandan Government through abolishing cost sharing in hospitals.

BRAVO, BRAVO.
THE STRUGGLE CONTINUES.
POWER TO THE SISTERS.
