Santa Fe: “Paso, paso, paso, Que viene el Escobazo!” Make way, make way, The Sweep-up is here!” “Noisy women’s demonstration through San Jeronimo ending in the Plaza de Mayo where there will be a Women’s Speakout and we will make a list of our demands and proposals to hand in to the governor. Neighbourhood assemblies, the Cross-Neighbourhood Women’s Network, the Mothers of the Disappeared and the Multi-Sector Coalition of Women for Action and many others, will take part. Drummers and Bands. Bring placards with the slogan “To sweep them out . . .” and brooms and dusters to Sweep out the dirt at the bottom and at the top. Dress up with masks and disguises.” The Sindicato de Amas de Casa (Housewives Union) in Santa Fe which has co-ordinated the Strike since 2000, is holding daily women’s assemblies in the poorest neighbourhoods as part of the popular uprising. Their leaflet has their Manifesto demands to deal with the Argentinian crisis, as well as Strike information. They are meeting together with women in Rosario and are calling their Strike actions "The Sweep". They’re contacting other women’s groups to join the Strike with their own demands. The Santa Fe and Rosario Sindicato de Amas de Casa (housewives union) are met on 9 February to coordinate their Strike activities. You can read a report of their meeting here (in Spanish). A woman who produces a radio program for 8 March dedicated to women which goes out on cable to people in the city of Rosario and the Santa Fe province is interested in the Strike and the Strike videos. “It would be an honor for our production team to spread such valuable information.” Statement
