Action in Guyana called by the women’s group Red Thread

Women of all colour are being invited to join the Global Women’s Strike on International Women’s Day March 8, 2003. This year’s Strike call, echoed by millions of women, and increasingly men, is INVEST IN CARING, NOT KILLING – money for promoting life, not death and destruction in Africa, Asia, Australia, the Caribbean, Europe, India, Indigenous lands, New Zealand, North and South America – together we voice our total opposition to war.

Women in the Caribbean will participate with their own national events. In Guyana women have called a three-hour housework Strike with the slogan EVERY PIECE OF "COLLATERAL DAMAGE" IS SOME MOTHER’S DAUGHTER, SOME MOTHER’S SON, while women in Trinidad & Tobago are organising a speak-out.

For the London March protesters will assemble at Parliament Square 11.30am. March and Speak out US Embassy, Grosvenor Square 2pm, with Songlines International Choir and African women’s drummers.
