"... we promise by God's grace we will organize our own strike this year (2003), we will invite scholars to speak on this topic on that day ... our association can help to translate the Strike leaflet into three main Nigerian languages, like Hausa, Ibo and Yoruba.  About the welfare of the disabled in Nigeria, the worst thing for any Nigerian is for him or her to be a disabled person.  You have to rehabilitate yourself or you die, or take to the street to beg.  Here it is understood that disability is a curse for the bad the family have done.  Some of us hardly attend school, the women are raped, and nobody cares.  Some have even taken to the street to be sex workers, and many now are single mothers, we carry two problems at the same time - being a disabled single mother, and with no support from anybody or government."
