On March 8, International Women's Day, women in New York
City will join women in other cities and 65+ countries around the world in the 2nd GLOBAL
WOMEN'S STRIKE Against No Pay, Low Pay and Overwork For a millenium which values all
women's work and all women's lives What: Rally & demonstration, with music &
speakers from the 5 boroughs and around the world.
When: Thursday,
March 8th, 2001. 12noon-2pm.
Where: NE corner of 39th Street & 7th Avenue. NYC.
Why: TO DEMAND:
- Payment for all caring work-in wages, pensions, land &
other resources.
- Pay equity fo all-equal pay for work of equal
value--internationally.
- Amnesty for all women in the United States.
- An end to the exploitation of women & girls in
sweatshops worldwide.
- Protection against violence-at home, in the factory or
office, on the farm, in the streets . . . and from the POLICE!
- Solidarity for the rights and defense of indigenous peoples
worldwide.
- An end to welfare reform which denies that every mother is
a working mother.
