* * * CHIAPAS, San Cristobal de las Casas – publicity in a women’s college. Women’s group organising radio jingles with the support of men’s group ‘The Black Door’. Strike webpage is linked to <chiapas.indymedia.org>

* * * CHIHUAHUA, Ciudad Juarez the Strike supports Voices without Echos, the mothers, fathers and relatives of at least 23 who have been murdered in the past few years who are having a picket to raise this horrendous situation and connect Strike to women’s genocide.

MEXICO CITY Defensoras Populares (Popular Defenders) co-ordinating Strike events. They are proposing that on 8 March women do no housework and that those who have waged jobs assemble in the city’s park instead. They have put out a call to the co-ordinators of the main women's groups (Diversa; Asamblea Nacional de Mujeres; Red de Mujeres Sindicalistas; Red por la Salud de las Mujeres; Coordinadora Nacional de la MMM; Mujeres para el Dialogo; Mujeres en Lucha por la Democracia; Milenio Feminista; CIMAC, and other Latin American sisters) to join them. They took part in the last 22 July (national housework day) housework strike, called by the women’s commission of Mexico City local council. Demands they are adding: peace in Chiapas, the implemntation of the San Andres Accords and the Cocopa law.

* * * We just heard from a wages for housework group which we didn’t know existed! Colectivo: Salario al trabajo domestico, educación y crianza de hijos e hijas ‘I read with enormous enthusiasm the book of Selma James [The Power of Women the Subversion of the Community] who was something very very important in my life and I have been working with this item since long with women in the radio and television programs and also at University. I think it is extremely important to talk about wages for housework and everything that has to do with helping capitalism to be richer and not paying for the work women and girls do.’ They also took part in 22 July strike.

* * * YUCATAN Merida Adding their own demands for a petition to spread the Strike and getting women's groups and representatives of political parties to sign it so they can be presented to the UN, the World Bank and presidents of different countries.
