Call for a Women's Contingent on the march against Bush The IRAQI WOMEN’S LEAGUE, the ERITREAN WOMEN’S GROUP and the GLOBAL WOMEN’S STRIKE invite you to the WOMEN’S CONTINGENT ON THE MARCH AGAINST BUSH, THURSDAY 20 NOV, assembling 2pm at Malet Street (look out for the red Iraqi Women's League banner and orange Global Women's Strike banner. We’ll gather from 1pm outside main entrance of Waterstone’s bookshop, Tollington Place/near corner of Malet St). We call on women to march with us to make women’s survival work, deprivation, vulnerability, struggle and demands visible. Only when women’s situation is visible, including the discrimination and destitution faced by those of us who are seeking asylum after fleeing war zones and/or Western-backed dictatorships where we suffer rape and other torture, is the real cost of war and occupation truly known and understood. The
Iraqi Women's League has said: Women
and our families from all over the world will march behind the banner
which says NO to the genocidal murderers Bush and Blair: Famous Vietnam vet Ron Kovic whose autobiography ‘Born on the 4th of July’ became a film with Tom Cruise, will be leading the anti-Bush march, with other veterans. He told the Global Women’s Strike: “I support you 100%” We also welcome you to the COMMUNITY ANTI-WAR PICKET in Parliament Square at 5.30-7pm EVERY WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY, and to support the PEACE PROTEST of BRIAN HAW who has camped in the Square for over two years and has been violently attacked a number of times. MPs have issued an Early Day Motion objecting to the £6m being spent protecting Bush, when Brian Haw cannot get the police to protect him when he is attacked. Despite continual attempts to close us down, we continue to fight for our right to free speech, to protest against the ongoing killing and occupation, in front of the Parliament that voted for them. We look forward to seeing you on the march and/or in Parliament Square. |
