march, church volunteers, immigrant women, lesbians, childcare workers, social workers,
university staff.

women's groups and trade unions to organize for the strike on Tues 18 January.

Communication Spaces) are circulating a tape in Spanish with a jingle (2 min) and a radio
programme of inteviews of people explaining why they support the strike (1 hour)

The demands
Apart from the 7 basic demands women in Spain have highlighted that they want included:
- an increase in all benefits for women and our families. Work is being done to compile,
publish and circulate an information sheet on the few existing benefits, and to meet with
political parties to find out how they propose to increase these benefits and fight
against women's poverty (There is a general election in Spain on 15 March)
- that the government implements legislation to measure and value the unremunerated work
women do, to publicise and include it in the national accounts.
Outreach material
- international leaflet calling for the strike (Spanish, Catalan, Arabic, Bengali,
Chinese, French, Gaelic, German, Gujerati, Hindi, Italian)
- tape in Spanish with the jingle and a radio programme which can be used as a
presentation at a speaking event or meeting, as well as by radio stations.
- model resolution for trade unions in Spanish
- in process of production: badges, t-shirts, postcards and a animated video clip.
